We celebrate Pancake Day by making and eating delicious pancakes!
We found out that Pancake Day is also called Shrove Tuesday. It is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Shrove Tuesday was the last day to use up eggs and fats before the fast.
During the morning we followed instructions to make our pancakes. We acted out the instructions and identified the bossy verbs together. We then went to our kitchen and Vicky, our school cook, showed use how to cook the batter. The best part was watching Vicky flip the pancake in the air.
For snack time, we enjoyed trying the pancakes along with a selection of fresh fruit. Some of us even tried the freshly squeezed lemon and lime to finish our toppings!
To finish the day we enjoyed sharing a Pancake story and learning an action poem.
Can your child share the Pancake poem with you?
