In our Art lessons this half term, we have been developing our sewing skills and techniques.
After watching clips of the ways used to join fabrics as part of our textile studies, children in Pioneers and Inventors then practised using different stitches to sew pieces of felt together. The techniques used included backstitch, running stitch and overstitch. These skills were further developed by producing flowers to create a class collage. The levels of perseverance and resilience in creating the individual pieces were incredibly impressive to see, as were the levels of collaboration when combining all of the finished pieces to create the final piece.
