Following on from our learning about how to keep our teeth healthy we carried out an investigation to highlight how important it is to brush our teeth!
We placed boiled eggs into four liquids; cola, orange juice, vinegar and water and left them overnight. The children predicted what would happen to each egg. There were some great ideas including "the vinegar will dissolve the egg shell', "the egg will turn black in the cola" and "the egg in the water will stay the same".
The egg in the cola turned brown and we decided to try and clean it with a toothbrush and toothpaste. After some careful brushing the egg turned back to its original colour! The egg shell in the vinegar went very soft, the orange juice coated the egg in yellow slime and the egg in the water stayed the same which proved that drinking water is best for our teeth!
