What's been happening in Pioneers/Inventors.



  • Year 5 and 6 practised a variety of new sewing techniques.
  • Inventors and Pioneers used various materials from home and school to bring their DT projects to life.
  • Seven Royal Bees!
  • Royal Bees at Work!
  • Lots of exciting events have been taking place as part of Sports Relief at our school.
  • We have been studying famous Scientists as part of British Science Week.
  • Mrs Axten trained a new team of 'Handwashing Experts' today in our KS2 assembly!
  • In Music lessons, we are studying the work of the composer John Williams.
  • This week, we have been learning about algorithms.
  • Safer Internet Day was on Tuesday 11th February.
  • The children have been working very hard to research the Romans and to present their findings to the class.
  • In our History lessons, we have been researching all about Britain from 55 BC to 407 AD and the impact that the Roman Empire had on this country.
  • Inventors and Pioneers spent an afternoon this week exploring how light travels in straight lines.
  • Year 5 trombone lessons have been taking place.
  • In our Design Technology lesson this week, we studied Roman aqueduct design.
  • Today we started to find out about Chinese New Year.

  • In our KS2 assembly today we talked about how what we say, post and share online can affect others.
  • This half term, we have been developing our Hi 5 Netball skills in our PE lessons.
  • The children investigated why some countries fare better than others when an earthquake strikes.
  • We have continued using different techniques in our aim to produce the perfect volcano or tsunami artwork during our Extreme Earth topic.
  • Inventors and Pioneers trialled using oil pastels to create effects they might use in their final piece of art work.
  • This week, we have been busy developing our scientific skills by extending our knowledge and understanding of solids, liquids and gases. 
  • Our Science learning this week was all about separating materials through the processes of sieving, filtering and evaporating.
  • This week, Pioneers and Inventors have been developing their artistic skills by studying artwork related to our Extreme Earth topic. 
  • WOW! What a week! So many experiences and memories for the children to cherish for a very long time.
  • It has been a scorching week back in Pioneers’ and Inventors’ class as the children have launched into their topic learning about volcanoes!
  • Children in Y5 have been given SPAG cards to use in preparation for Y6.
  • This morning the Year 6 children completed some 'Taskmaster' style challenges to continue working on their team building skills.
  • The Year 5 children thought of a range of games to teach the Explorers today. They demonstrated some great organisational skills!

  • Children in Year 5 put on a brilliant show after learning a song and dance in one of their village festival workshops.
  • Year 6 were very lucky to take part in a brilliant puppet making workshop at the village festival.
  • Children in Year 6 learnt three Maypole dances on Thursday before performing to an audience during the afternoon.
