Voyagers and Discoverers started their new science unit this week; Sound.
We started our learning by investigating how sounds are made (vibrations). Since we can't see the vibrations, we had to use a variety of senses to feel them and ways to help see that they are happening. Children worked around a variety of stations to compare what changes when you struck or pluck and instrument in a different way. The tuning fork in water and lentils on a drum skin where particularly popular and fun. We also watched slow motion videos to help the children understand that vibrations cause sound.
