This week, we explored printmaking by carving Styrofoam tiles to create our own prints.
We began by experimenting with small repeated patterns—such as grass, pebbles, clouds, or shrubs—and tested how shallow or deep lines affected the outcome. We carved the designs we had planned and practiced in the previous lesson and created small stamps for added detail, practicing printing them in our sketchbooks. Next, we applied ink with rollers and considered how our shapes would repeat, which areas we wanted to stand out, and how to keep our designs clear and effective. It was a wonderful opportunity to experiment with tools, refine ideas, and see how simple lines can transform into bold, expressive prints.
