Today we made a simple compass!
We started by magnetizing the sewing needle – rubbing one end of the needle with the “north” and the other with the ‘’south’’ pole of our magnet.
We carefully threaded the needle through the silver foil and floated it on the surface of the water so that the ends of the needle were on top of the silver foil.
The needle rotated on the surface of the water. The end we magnetized with the “north” pole of our magnet, pointed NORTH!
