The children celebrated the end of a brilliant Geography topic by building their own river channel on the grass outside.
The children revisited all of the geographical vocabulary that they had learned throughout the last 7 weeks. We talked about what features and landforms we would expect to find in a river at different stages and what these might look like in our scale model. They then collaborated to build a river out of sand and rocks which included lots of the features they had just discussed.
Finally, the children poured lots of water down it to test it and linked this to what happens when a river bursts its banks and floods.
